Takeout math: the drawing gives you center-to-center. The fitting's takeout is how much of that the fitting itself covers. CUT = C2C − takeout at each end. A 10'-0" c-c leg between two 2" press 90s (2-3/16" takeout each) cuts at 9'-7 5/8". Press and solder also need insertion depth — the stub between two fittings has to fit both insertions plus a gap, or it physically can't be made up. That's what "too short — move the tee" means.

  • The pipe stretcher. Doesn't exist. Never existed. Kevin looked for it for two hours in 2019 and checked three gang boxes twice.
  • A bucket of steam. The supply house guy will play along. They ALWAYS play along.

  • "It's close enough" = it's wrong, and we're both going to pretend it isn't until the inspector shows up.
  • "Who measured this?" = I know exactly who measured this. It was you. I watched you.
  • "We've always done it this way" = I learned this in 1987 and nobody's been brave enough to bring it up since.
  • "Give it a little persuasion" = there is a hammer in this sentence.
  • "The print says..." = the argument is over. The print is the referee.
